After a leisurely breakfast, you will be met by your guide for your tour of the Franschhoek Valley in the Cape Winelands. Stop in Franschhoek, where you will have time to take a stroll down the main road of this quaint town where you will find world-class shops and boutiques.

Your next stop is the world-renowned Haute Cabriere Winery for a wine tasting and a fun and insightful cellar tour, including a Sabrage demonstration, followed by a visit to La Bourgogne Wine Farm where you will enjoy an olive oil tasting followed by lunch.

After lunch, participate in an hour-long wine-blending interactive experience at Rickety Bridge Winery and leave with a bottle of wine. Later you will transfer to your hotel in Cape Town.

After breakfast, begin your exclusive Robben Island tour, escorted by your private guide Christo Brand. Christo Brand was Nelson Mandela's prison guard on Robben Island for many years. His story is one of their extraordinary and close friendship where he went from being Mandela’s prison guard to his confidant and accomplice. He started working on Robben Island in 1978 and that was when he first came across Nelson Mandela. They formed a relationship which was to become so much more. In 1982, Mandela was transferred to Pollsmoor Prison and Christo was responsible for guarding Mandela for the next 6 years. On his release from prison, Mandela organized a job for Christo as an administrative and logistics manager in the Constitutional Assembly and later he arranged for Christo to start work again on Robben Island – this time as a supervisor. Robben Island is now a World Heritage Site with stunning views across the bay. For nearly 400 years Robben Island, 7½ miles off the coast from Cape Town was a place of banishment, exile, isolation, and imprisonment. It is a highly charged and emotional moment when you visit the site of this suffering and realize how far South Africa has come from those days. Return to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

It is time to say goodbye to beautiful Cape Town as you head for the airport and transfer to Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge. Deep in the bushveld overlooking a waterhole and an open plain, lies Bush Lodge, with its earned reputation as a “luxury home in the bush” offering excellent service and effortless personal attention.

In the afternoon, head out on your first game drive. Return to the lodge after sunset for a delicious dinner and a drink around the fire.

Explore the bush on an early morning and late afternoon open vehicle game drives. On the early morning game drive, you will catch the tail end of the night exploits of nocturnal creatures and view the new day life of the bush. Back in the tranquility of the camp setting sit around the fire and share bush tales and indulge in the delicious meals prepared by the chef.

Enjoy your final day of dawn and dusk game-viewing activities in this wildlife reserve. During your stay, take an immersive MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Community Tour – a great introduction to learning how Tourism benefits Community and Conservation at Sabi Sabi. First, we visit the Swa-Vana Care Centre – a center for young people including children with disabilities and children living with HIV / AIDS. Nearby is the Digital Learning Centre where guests will see how technology is used to teach Grade 4’s English and Math and offers the school leavers a place to start molding a career in hospitality and Tourism.

Continue to the Marula Water Tower to view the recently built solar-powered water pump offering filtered water to the entire community of Huntington. The tap network project spans a 2-mile radius around the pump, making this a fully sustainable community. Over and above the water tower they are turning the site into a community vegetable garden which will feed the village and lodge. The last stop will be a visit to the Traditional Healer (the Induna) before returning to camp.
